No sign of the times
Based in a drizzle blessed valley in North Wales, black sleazy pop low-fi noiseniks Facefish are out of step with fashion and the music industry, preferring to play music that they want to hear rather than what others choose to broadcast. Believing that too many people think too much about music this group attempt not to think at all. Being a straight-ahead rock combo with riffs, hooks and tunes Facefish operate according to simple rules: play it loud, keep it simple, have fun and don't pander to the audience. Here you will find warts surrounded by sound, cliche piled upon cliche and one or two chords, Facefish believe that enthusiasm is a more valuable rock commodity than technical ability, so you won't find many drum solos or much slick showing off, .
If you're in fashion you're out of style
In line with tradition Facefish use guitars, bass and drums and employ "stage" names to add to the mystique. Thus the line-up comprises Wills "Wills" on vocal etc, The Hats Durango on guitar and vocal, T W Eighty on bass and iBall on drums. iBall doesn't play a complete drum kit but he's the powerhouse that drives the group. Nobody makes any claims to be an expert instrumentalist and this is seen as a positive point. A musician only has to be good enough, as virtuosity has been proven to be a hinderance to creativity. Who wants to listen to too many notes and not enough music?
What price freedom?
Some of you may have noticed that the quality of mainstream music is in a state of perpetual decline due to commodification. We don't have records any more, we have product. The record companies are responsible for this and are anathema to the spirit of those heady days when music was a vital and somewhat rebellious force and was pursued more for love than for money. Facefish have decided to make all their material to date freely available for viewing and download.
